Joseph Rosenquist's Departure From Sweden

Joseph Rosenquist left Sweden from the port in Malmö on February 17, 1887.  He was aboard a steamship called the Via Köpenhamn.  The first leg of his journey took him across the North Sea to Hull, England.  From there, he went by train to Liverpool, where he boarded a trans-Atlantic steamer for the trip across the ocean. The list shown below was prepared by the Swedish police before Joseph left Sweden.  His name appears second on the list (Josef Jönsson).  The document translates into English something like this:  "Log by the police authorities in Malmö 17th of February, 1887, proof of contract completed between the below mentioned emigrants departing with the steamship Via Köpenhamn from Malmö the 17th of February, 1887 on Ankar line's agent Leonard Borg, Göteborg through N. Anston."

Joseph's "titel" or occupation is listed as "dräng", or farmhand.  He came from the parish Norra Åkarp in Kristianstad county (Län).

This document was found on microfilm no. 919,921 from the LDS library.
